BROWARD COUNTY MAN CLAIMS
$1.2 MILLION MEGA MONEY™ JACKPOT

TALLAHASSEE-- The Florida Lottery announced today that MEGA MONEY™ winner George Summers, 67, of Pembroke Pines claimed the $1.2 million MEGA MONEY jackpot drawn on January 19.

Summers chose the one-time, lump-sum payment option for his winnings in the amount of $839,322.31. The winning MEGA MONEY Quick Pick ticket was purchased at Publix, located at 19441 Sheridan Street in Ft. Lauderdale. The retailer received a bonus incentive of $1,000.00 for selling the jackpot-winning ticket.

The winning numbers were:

09 - 15 - 35 - 40 and the MEGABALL® was 07

According to Summers, after purchasing his ticket, he placed it in his wallet and left it there for several days. The next time he and his wife were at the grocery store, he remembered his ticket and asked the clerk to check it for him. Sure enough, his ticket matched all the winning numbers and Summers had won the $1.2 million.

Total ticket sales for this jackpot generated approximately $1.35 million for the Educational Enhancement Trust Fund (EETF). Since 1988, the Florida Lottery has contributed more than $20 billion to the EETF, benefiting our students and schools, as well as funding more than one million Bright Futures scholarships. By a two-to-one margin, Florida voters in 1986 approved a constitutional amendment authorizing the state to operate a lottery for the purpose of generating significant additional moneys for education.

The next MEGA MONEY drawing will be held on Tuesday, February 2, at 11:15 p.m. ET with a $500,000 jackpot. Webcasts of Florida Lottery drawings are available on the Lottery's Web site at flalottery.com.
